Alguna ropa es formal y tambien semi-formal. En Bloomingdale’s yo compro una camiseta de morada. Esta es algodon y de color liso. Yo necisito los pantalones de blanco de igualar. Los pantalones costo 30 dolores. Me encanta comprar!
Week 18- Verbos Negativos y Affirmativos
This week I really concentrated on working on learning how to you negative and affirmative verbs. This is important because I will need to be able to tell somebody do something or don’t do something. I am playing different games that help me improve my affirmative and negative verb use. Specifically on http://www.quia.com/mc/435640.html. I really enjoy using this website because it uses fun and interactive games to teach different things. I particulary enjoy the matching game that they have on there. I have also been applying the new things that I learned through a games. If you look at my post called “Para tener buena moda” there is a link to a game that I made that shows you how to have good style and fashion but also lets you practice your affirmative and negative verbs. I feel like this really helped me with working on my verbs. I also commented on http://elfashionista.net/2010/01/12/dora-romero-aw0910/comment-page-1/#comment-21493. This is the fashion website whose creator is very nice. Her name is Piti and I talk to her a lot. This website is great. I basically said what you have to do in my school to have good fashion. I used affirmative verbs in my comment. I will continue working on perfecting my verb use. I would like to have it down in time for the final exam.
Para tener buena moda
Para tener buena moda Here is a game that will help you have better fashion. It allows me to conjugate negative and afirmative verbs.
Week 13- Practico Mis Verbos
This week I have been working on improving my past tense verb forms. Even though I was working on this last week I still don’t think that I have this down as much as I would like to. This is something that I have been struggling with a lot. I finally feel like I have gotten a little bit of a hang on it but I could still use improvement. It is very important to be able to use past tense verbs when having a conversation with someone. So far I have practiced my past tense verbs in the form of writing. I have used some past tense verbs when emailing people. I have been sending out many emails to native speakers through my personal email account and my epals account. Unfortunately most of the people I have been connecting with are off on summer break because they are from Argentina. Even though my work isn’t perfect i still feel like I am improving. I also used http://www.quia.com/shared/spanish/ to practice my past tense verbs using a matching game which was very fun.
I have also been working on my use of the reflexive verbs. We have been working on this in class a lot. If you look at my post “Las Rutinas” you will see that all of my verbs are conjugated using the reflexive format. In class I have also been doing many worksheets concerning the use of reflexive verbs. I have also been practicing my reflexive verbs using http://www.quia.com/mc/845288.html . I really like the matching games that they have on there. It is important to practice this skill as much as possible.Hopefully I am working to achieve my goals to the best of my ability. It is very important to me to become fluent in Spanish.

Èl come cerèal de Cheerios.
I also talked to my friend Valentina from Argentina about her daily schedule. Right now she is on summer vacation so her schedule is a little bit different from our schedule here in America. However, the foods she eats are similar to the foods that we eat. For breakfast she has coffee, chocolate milk and toast. For dinner she eats pasta, chicken, meat and even pizza. Some of the foods she eats are different then the ones that are common in America. Sometimes she has cookies for breakfast which is not that common in America. We usually have cereal or pancakes. Considering that it is summer she has basically the same schedule that we have during summer vacation. She said she is going to the beach a lot and is getting ready to come to America!

Yo necisite trabajar en mi proyecto de ingles. El proyecto es muy dificil! Yo visite mis primos y mis abuelos tambien. Pase tiempo con otra familia tambien. Me encanta las vacaciones de invierno.
Week 12- Trabajo en mi metas
This week I am focusing on working on my goals. I would really like to be able to use past tense verbs better. I think that this is very important when having a conversation. I have done a few activities that have helped me with conjugating verbs. I used http://www.quia.com/mc/1331029.html Both of these websites have activities that help you practice your Spanish. I especially like the matching game because it is a a game that makes learning these verbs fun. I think that if I keep practicing I will be able to achieve my goals.

Here is an email where I conjugated my verbs well. I was talking to a girl named Maryorith. This is the second email I sent her but she hasn’t replied back yet.
Mi Critica de Marinelli’s
Here is a link to my critique of a restaurant in Flemington, New Jersey. It’s a very good restaurant.
Mi Conversacion de Ashley
1a. I learned that Ashley was from Puerto Rico and that some of her family lived there. I could have asked what she liked about Puerto Rico and if she wants to go back there. However, she did say that she liked where she lives now. Next time I’m going to focus on getting more information about the person’s backround. Hopefully I will improve on this. I think that this aspect of the project was my weakest. I just was asking basic questions but I have to get more in depth.
2a. Ashley and I didn’t really discuss anything pertaining to the goals we have in school. I did find out that she like math and was interested in that. She also said that she likes Hunterdon Central. Personally I think that I worked towards my goals better because I kept the conversation going and asked follow up questions. Also I didn’t say like or um that much if at all. Hopefully I am improving.
3a. I thought I asked follow up questions really well. When I heard that Ashley wanted a laptop for Christmas I asked her if she wanted a Mac or a PC. I also asked her a lot of follow up questions pertaining to the holidays. Unfortunately when I asked a question Ashley gave me a lot of information at once so it was hard to think of follow up questions for answers when she already gave me the information.
b. I think that I should try to go slower and take a second to think before I say something. In one case I accidentally said me llamo Hunterdon Central instead of me gusta Hunterdon Central. Thankfully I caught myself and apologized and continued on. I would like to be able to ask more follow up questions and keep the conversation going more smoothly.

Emails con Valentina
I have been talking to a girl named Valentina for about a week now. She is very nice. Even though we have only exchanged about three emails it has been a good way to practice my Spanish. She likes the same music I like. She’s really interested in music and dance. I have been asking follow up questions too. Hopefully this will keep the conversation going.
Here is the first email from Valentina:
Week 11- Hablo con Piti
This week has been very exciting. I have started exchanging emails with a girl named Piti. She is known as the Fashion Assistant. She and I both like the same designers. Hopefully she will be able to teach me a lot and give me a heads up into breaking into the fashion industry. I was very excited to see that she took the time to write me back. I’m looking forward to learning more about her and her job.
Me gusta el blog de El Fashionista. Me gusta la ropa en este blog. El blog tiene muchas informacion y interasante fotos. El Fashionista es muy divertida. Me gusta los zapatos en El blog de El fashionista.
I really like this blog. I think that the author is a stylist who is trying to make it big in the fashion industry. Her name is Piti. She works mostly in Spain. This blog is set up very easily and is easy to use. There are a lot of great links to other fashion sites that are on this blog. The author has a lot of great things to say about the different fashions and gives a lot of great information. I think it will be fun to follow what she is doing and learn more about her career. I also found out that she has a twitter and her tweets are on her blog. Hopefully I will be able to connect with her and she could give me advice for working in the fashion industry. I also really like the different clothes that she shows on her blog. There really cute. She also gives links to where we can find the clothing. I’m really looking forward to following this blog.
.
I have also been talking to a girl named Maryorith. She likes the beach, hanging out with friends and shopping. We have a lot to talk about because we have a lot of the same interests. I was happy to talk to her. Hopefully I will be able to keep talking with her. I have been very fortunate in making these connections this week. I’m hoping my luck will continue.
Week 10- Hablar con Clase de ESL
This week we have done a lot. The big thing that we did was talk with students from the ESL biology class. We interviewed them. We recorded the interviews on video cameras and will put them on our blogs soon. We just have to edit them first. I think me and Carly did a really good job. We focused on using follow up questions to keep the conversations going. Unfortunately we ran out of time so me and Carly’s video isn’t as long as it could have been but I still think that it is pretty good. We tried our best. I have also been exchanging emails with students from epals. That has been very exciting. I like how I can relate to almost everyone of them. My goal is to talk with someone on Skype within the next week because I have a project coming up. A lot of people haven’t been on but hopefully I will have someone to talk to. I’m hoping that I will be able to complete my goals in time.
Reflection: a. In the interview we learned that Ashley was from Puerto Rico and she didn’t really like it. She likes Flemington much better. I could have asked why she liked Flemington better then Puerto Rico. I also could have asked what she likes about Flemington. I like Flemington too. She also liked to go to the beach and hang out with her friends. I could relate to this because I love the beach and I like hanging out with my friends.
b. I felt like I asked follow up questions really well. I asked her many questions about where she lived, what her family was like and their names. One of my goals was asking follow up questions so I was happy that I was able to complete my goal. I think I should work on saying the past tense of verbs more and work more on conjugating verbs. If I do this then I feel like I would have really met my goals in having a fluent conversations with a native speaker. Otherwise I feel like I did really well with this interview.

Mi Conversacion con Carlos
Today I had a conversation with a guy named Carlos. I found out that he lives in Chile and likes the beach. This was good because I love the beach too. So we enjoyed talking about what beach we liked and how I had a beach house. I did ask follow up questions. I asked him what beach he liked and I asked him if Chile was pretty. This conversation was cut short because we both had to go but hopefully I will be able to talk to him more in the future. The only problem was I kept having to ask him to only speak in Spanish. Eventually he did. I am pleased with my conversation and hope I did well.

Week 9- Connective Blogging
This week we started a new project, connective blogging. This means that we will be responding to other people’s blogs from around the world. So far I have commented on two different blogs. You can find the links to these blogs on the home page of my blog. I made posts about the different blogs. Since I am very interested in fashion I commented on two different fashion blogs. I really would love to connect with these girls because I would love to learn more about what they do. Hopefully they could teach me about Spanish fashions and what’s popular where they live and I could educate them in the styles that are popular there. We are also continuing to exchange email with the students we met through epals. Unfortunately I have not recieved any emails back. I’m going to try to email more students and hopefully they will email me back. I am looking forward to making even more connections. Especially with people who share the same interests as me.

Week 8- Preparing for the mid term exam
This week is a big week. We are currently preparing for the upcoming mid term exam. So far we have completed on voicethreads that have taught us new and important vocabulary words that we will need for this exam. Another thing that we have been learning is how to conjugate verbs. This was challenging but I have finally gotten the hang of it and I feel very confident about it. Unfortunately I have not received any emails back from the students I emailed through epals. I did have some trouble actually getting the emails out so I have not emailed everyone that I hope to email. I will make sure to get that done today. Hopefully I will get some responses back and start making connections. My goal would be to hopefully have some students email me back by next week and then start using Skype and Twitter with them. I think that this is a great opportunity to make connections all over the world and improve my Spanish. Not only will it help me practice my Spanish but hopefully the students will teach me new words and phrases. I’m looking forward to helping them with their English to. Hopefully I will able to stay on track with my goals.

Conversation Via Skype
This is a conversation I had with a native speaker using Skype. Her name is Jaclyn. She lives in Venezuela. We have talked a few times. We have talked through chat and also used a microphone to talk using Skype. I did have to look up how to say some words and phrases but over all I think this conversation went pretty good. Hopefully I will have more in the near future.

Week 7- Voicethread and Epals Project
This week I completed a Voicethread project. This project was about objects you might find in an apartment or house. There are seven slides and on each slide I pronounced the word and used it in a sentence. This project is now on my blog. Feel free to comment. I think that it turned out pretty well and hopefully it will help me with pronunciation and key vocabulary words for the upcoming mid terms. Another thing I did this week was complete my letter for my Epals connections. I will be emailing six students in Argentina, Mexico and Columbia. Hopefully through this I will be able to learn more about their cultures since that is one of my goals for this semester. One other thing I have been working on is making connections with people in Barcelona, Spain. I am very interested in learning about their city and culture. I will be working on making these connections through Skype. Speaking of Skype I have been talking to people as much as I can. I feel that it is improving my Spanish even more. Hopefully I will be able to reach my goals and keep improving my Spanish.
Barcelona, Spain
After talking to people in Spanish on Skype and Epals I have come to realize that I would like to learn more about Spain. Not just Spain but specifically Barcelona, Spain. I would love to know about the culture and traditions of this city. My cousins lived there for sixth months and said it was beautiful. They brought back many pictures and I was amazed with the culture and archietect of the city. It was really very interesting. I’m going to try to find people on Skype and Soziety that live in Barcelona to talk to. Hopefully they will help me learn more about the city and what it is like there. Eventually I would like to visit Barcelona. This could help me improve my Spanish and overall cultural knowledge. I would really like to know about the cultural traditions there. Stuff like what do they do for Christmas or if they have a Halloween. It will be interesting to compare and contrast American traditions with traditions from Spain. Another thing I am curious about learning is what kind of clothing they wear, or what is popular there since I am like fashion a lot. Hopefully through making connections I will be able to learn more about Barcelona, Spain.
Week 6-Talking to Students With Epals
This week we are starting to write letters to people on epals. I made a connection with a teacher from Buenos Aires, Argentina. She gave me a list of 67 students who are using epals in her classes. These students range from ages 9-15. We will be able to talk to them until the end of December because that is when they go on their winter break. Carly and Sophie also connected with classes in South America so we will be able to get an opportunity to talk to them. Each of us will get about 5 or 6 kids to talk to and develop relationships with them. I’m looking forward to this project because I think that it will help me learn even more Spanish.
Conversations With Native Speakers
This week is week six. I have done a lot this week but one of the big things that I have done was talk to a native speaker using Skype. You can listen to this conversation on my blog too. I really learned a lot through this experience. I have also been keeping up with my epals connection. Hopefully we will get to exchange emails or Skype conversations with her class soon. I have also completed my mid term goal which was to make at least five connections on Skype. I have made nine connections so far and am continuing to make more. At the moment I am working on my long term goal which was to have a semi fluent conversation with a native speaker. My conversation with Jaclyn went well but I know I can do better. Hopefully I can stay on track and meet my goals.
My Conversation with Jaclyn
This is my conversation with Jaclyn who is a native speaker. She lives in Venuzuela and she is trying to learn English.
1. A. Unfortunately I did not get to learn a lot about Jaclyn’s culture because it was very hard to direct the conversation towards that and I was basically asking her questions that I knew off the top of my head or I had on my sheet. I tried my best to make it sound as natural as possible.
2. A. I have definitely furthered my linguistic skills in Spanish. Me and Jaclyn did not discuss this during our recorded conversation but we have talked about it through chat. She is very intersted in learning English. I felt that I did a pretty good job speaking given that this was my first time and it was a little hard to understand her. Hopefully I will do even better next time.
3. A. I feel like I really furthered the conversation well. By this I mean that I gave good responses and responded to what she was saying, I also asked follow up questions. A specific example is when I asked her if she had any pets, “Tengo mascotas tienes?” and she said that she had one dog, I said that I had one dog too and that his name was Teddy. That is just one example of me following up on what she was saying though.
3. B. I think that I should have taken my time more. I was nervous so I rushed a bit. I mispronounced some phrases like when I said what my dogs name is and said how old I am wrong. I said “Yo 14″ instead of “Tengo 14″Next time I think that I will be more comfortable and will not make these careless mistakes.
Week 5- Talking with the ESL students
This week has been a little disappointing. On Tuesday we talked to students in the ESL class which was fun. I got a chance to really use my Spanish and we got to help them with their English. I have also been trying to contact a native speaker via Skype so I could talk to them using a microphone but I have had no luck. I tried to contact about 15 or more people but so far none of them have messaged me back. I’m not sure what I am going to do to complete this project but hopefully I will find a solution.

Week 4- Making New Contacts
I can’t believe that it is already week four! So far this week I tried to have a conversation with a native speaker using a microphone but it didn’t quite work due to technical problems. I really hope I will be able to have a conversation using a microphone soon because then I will be working towards my long term goal which is to be able to have a semi fluent conversation with a native speaker. In class we worked on how to lead a conversation and learned some good phrases that will help us when we are trying to communicate with other Spanish speakers. I feel that I have worked hard this week and hopefully my hard work will soon pay off.
I am also about halfway done with completing my mid term goal. So far I have made 3 connections on Skype. I have been talking to these people frequently and have even been helping them improve their English while I improve my Spanish. I only have to make 2 more connections and then I will have completed my goal. I have also made a connection with a teacher and her class on epals which is great. We are going to be exchanging information with them and helping them improve their English while we improve our Spanish. I am very happy about this.
Week 3- Voice Thread Project
This week we did a lot but thankfully I have completed everything I had to do. This included doing a Voicethread project which you can find on my about page. In the voice thread project I explained a little about myself and my interests. I also talked about two of my family members. I think it turned out pretty good. I have also been trying to keep in touch with the connections I made in Skype and Soziety. I am going to post these conversations soon.
Week 2- My Spanish Song
I have been doing my best to keep up with my goals. Over the weekend I kept in touch with my contacts on Skype. I have also been trying to email teachers using my epals account. However I have not gotten any responses back unfortunately. I sent about 5 emails but I guess I should send more since it’s important to make these connections. I completed my short term goal which means that I have made all of my accounts online such as Twitter, Epals, Skype etc. This is going to allow me to be able to connect with people and work on my Spanish. Thankfully I am keeping up with my goals and will continue to do so.
I also made a song in Spanish. In this song I had to use 12 key vocabulary in my song and say how to spell them. I had to do the whole song in Spanish. It was challenging but I think it turned out pretty good.
[display_podcast]
Connections on Skype
I just finished my Spanish song project and it came out pretty good. I learned how to create a song using Youtube and Audacity. I also have been keeping with the connections I made on Skype. Last night I was talking to a guy who lived in Columbia and was trying to work on his English. So he wrote to me in English and I responded in Spanish. I feel like I am learning a lot through these conversations and am keeping up with my goals.
Progress Week 1- Skype
So far I’m doing pretty well on my short term goal. I have already made 6 connections on skype and am trying to talk to them as much as I can. One person is helping me with my Spanish as I’m helping him with is English. I feel like I am really accomplishing what I set out to do and hopefully I can continue reaching my goals.
